The New York Giants seemed hesitant to keep playing with their running back Saquon Barkley five years after they started with the receiver. The media has yet to witness any successful negotiations between the athlete and the team.
There won’t be much of a delay in training camp, as the off-season is quickly closing. The veteran running back’s future with the Giants is still up in the air, and his time with the team may be coming to an end.
Saquon Barkley fails to sign a long-term contract before the franchise tag deadline
A multi-year contract had to be reached by Monday, but even so, the Giants didn’t say anything further about their desire to not renew Barkley’s deal at this time. The New England club now has the option of keeping the running back for this season only once the deadline has passed.
In March, Saquon received the non-exclusive tag as a result of a significant contract his team signed with quarterback Daniel Jones. Thus, the RBs’ future with the Giants has turned into a more swinging one.

According to the report, the 26-year-old hasn’t signed the $10.091 million franchise tag; hence, he is now out of contract with the team. The teams’ training camp is going to be started on July 25, and reportedly, the running back is expected to miss a good portion of the camp.
Saquon Barkley responds to the Giants not signing him long-term
The Giants team has already completed their OTA without Barkley’s participation. Previously in an interview with ESPN, the RB stated that he was waiting for 17th July to see the teams’ decision on him, and on the basis of their consideration, he would go for his next move.
“We got until July 17, right? So I guess I would make those decisions or start thinking about that when July 17 comes.”
The Giant’s player did not express his hope for a contract extension, yet he stated that if the team was still unable to reach a conclusion, then they might have taken a little bit of time to think over the fact. He revealed that he was running for a record-breaking contract, rather he was looking for a stable and suitable contract.
If the Giants do not respond favorably, he must sit down with his family to carry out his next game plan.
“That comes up in conversation if something doesn’t get done by July 17. We got a little bit of time in between there,” Barkley added. “When that date comes up, then I’ll have to sit down with my team, sit down with my family and make decisions. See what we’re going to do. What’s the next game plan. What’s the next move.”
After learning the Giants are not in a move to extend his contract, the Giants running back responded to their decision by posting: “It is what it is.”
Though the running back recorded 1,312 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns last season being fourth in the NFL with the Giants, the long tie between the team and him seems to be set down soon.
