“Why the f*ck am I so unlucky”: Ferrari ace Charles Leclerc reveals real reason behind his crash during Brazilian GP

Formula One cars are highly complex machines, and mechanical failures can occur very often. A well-prepared car is less likely to suffer a breakdown, but even the best teams can experience bad luck in this regard.

The renowned and charismatic Ferrari driver, Charles Leclerc, recently faced a similar situation at the Brazilian GP, where the Monegasque driver expressed his frustration over his misfortune via the team radio at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Charles Leclerc discloses reason behind his crash

Charles Leclerc explained that the electronics issue with the Ferrari triggered his crash during the  Formula 1’s Brazilian Grand Prix. The car experienced both a power unit and a hydraulic failure on the formation lap, which were caused by an electronic command issue.

This led to the car crashing into the barrier, and despite his continuous efforts, Leclerc was unable to restart the engine of the car. Over the radio, he was heard being both frustrated and heartbroken due to this extremely unfortunate incident. Although, Leclerc managed to secure the second place in the qualifying race, despite the heavy rain.

When asked about the events that unfolded on the track during the race, the Ferrari driver replied, “I went to the corner, I lost the power steering first, and then the engine cut off for safety reasons,” he explained. “And then the rear wheels locked up, and that made me spin.

“So I had no control over the car to any point. Hydraulics, that is what I felt. But in the end, I don’t think that is the issue, speaking with the engineers. We know what that is, but I cannot go too much into detail.”

The Monegasque driver also specified that he could have kept going only if the front wing of the car was damaged, without the recurring electronics issue.

“I moved the car again. There was only the front wing that was damaged,”

“But apart from that, nothing else. I started again, I got the hydraulics for 15 seconds. But then the same thing happened. I lost the hydraulics, and then the engine cut off.”

“And obviously, it was clear that I couldn’t go forward anymore, because I went 20 metres.”

Charles Leclerc performance throughout the F1 season

Charles Leclerc had somewhat had his share of incredible wins this season, but also experienced a couple of disappointments. The Monegasque driver endured two consecutive disappointing Grand Prix races recently, with his breakdown during the crash of the Brazilian Grand Prix, which was clearly audible over the radio. However, the situation was unavoidable due to some electronical issue of the Ferrari he was driving in.

Overall, this season was not the best for the Ferrari driver, however, he gave his best effort and secured 10 podium finishes, two wins, four fastest laps and seven pole positions, ultimately securing the fourth place in the Championship.
