Prayers and support poured out for the former United goalkeeper from all across the globe, with Manchester United releasing a statement to show their support for the Dutch legend who won everything with the team.

Ajax has been posting updates on Edwin van der Sar’s health on behalf of the Dutch legend’s wife, Annemarie, with the latest coming some days ago about how the former goalkeeper responded well to treatment and communicating with his family.

On behalf of himself and his family, Van der Sar posted on his Instagram and Twitter pages, “First of all, we want to thank everyone for all the great and supportive messages. I’m happy to share that I’m no longer in the intensive care unit. However, I’m still in the hospital. I hope to go home next week and take the next step in my recovery.”
