Why was Michael Cole not on WWE RAW commentary? Disclosing the reason for the 56-year-old commentator’s absence

Michael Cole is undoubtedly one of the best commentators in WWE in this generation. WWE has been home to many big commentators throughout the decades, but very few were at the level of Cole even during their prime.

The mic-holding legend has been working with the promotion for more than two decades now. However, the legendary commentator was absent from the announcer’s table on the latest episode of Monday Night Raw. Fans speculated that the reason for his absence on that episode was due to sickness.

Reason behind Cole’s WWE RAW absence

In August of this year, the WWE commentary section underwent a major change as Michael Cole has been seen on both Raw and SmackDown. Due to his dedication to this job, he even received praise from WWE superstar Seth Rollins, who also mentioned that the legend of the WWE commentary desk had only missed two shows in his whole career.

On the last episode of Raw, Kevin Patrick and Wade Barrett were seen at the announcement table doing the commentary of the matches whereas Cole was not present. This was a very rare event for e every die-hard WWE fan. Many fans even got concerned for his health speculating that the mic-holding legend was sick.

However, the fans should not worry about his health because Michael Cole is just on leave for some personal reasons. It was reported by PW insider that Cole doesn’t have any health issues.

Reason for Michael Cole being on commentary in both brands

Michael Cole is considered one of the best commentators in the history of WWE. His presence at the announcer’s table is enough to turn a dull match into an interesting one as he spices up the action for the audience with his commentary.

In August, Cole was assigned to do commentary in both Raw and SmackDown just after the SummerSlam 2023 Premium Live Event. Before that, the mic-holding legend was only assigned for WWE SmackDown. The CCO of WWE, Triple H announced that change should take place after SummerSlam. Now, Michael appears on Raw with Wade Barrett as his partner, and on SmackDown he is seen with Kevin Patrick and Corey Graves.

According to the report provided by Variety, the main reason behind Cole working on both brands at the same time is only because of the growth of the company. WWE also thinks working with him is quite beneficial for them in the long run.
