Why was NBA player Miles Bridges served with an arrest warrant? Investigating Hornet’s star’s domestic violence charges

It is becoming common nowadays to hear about scandals and allegations against sports athletes, be it sexual assault, domestic violence, or something else. The Hornets’ star Miles Bridges had also found himself in a similar situation last year.

Miles Bridges faced an arrest on June 29, 2022, following the charges of felony domestic violence. His lawyers worked hard to get him released on bond. But now after a year since these events took place, it has been reported that a new arrest warrant has been issued for the player.

Why was Miles Bridges slapped with an arrest warrant?

It has been reported that an arrest warrant has been issued for Miles Bridge. This warrant is issued in regard to the domestic violence allegations made against Bridge a year ago. Miles Bridges was initially arrested on June 29, 2022. He was charged with allegations of felony domestic violence and was later released on bond. The consequences that followed for the Charlotte Hornets star after his arrest have almost ruined his career as a basketball player.

He was indefinitely suspended by the Hornets until the outcome of the legal proceedings was made clear. However, the new arrest warrant issued for him is for a breach of a protective order, as reported by the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and the county clerk of court.

It is good for Miles that no new allegations of physical violence were made against him. The previous case was resolved and although Bridges has not accepted the allegations formally, his silence gives away the answer. He was put on probation with no jail time. The probation required him to serve 100 hours of community service and attend 52 weeks of domestic violence counseling and parenting classes. He is also required to maintain a 100-yard distance from his ex-girlfriend and have no contact with her.

Miles Bridges NBA career highlights

Miles Bridges has had one of the most heartbreaking downfalls in the NBA. He is still young and is a player of great potential. He had helped the Hornets greatly to make the playoffs in two straight seasons. He established himself as a key player for a young and exciting team who were sure to make some noise in the Eastern Conference in the future.

However, things went south and Bridges got himself suspended. Before the suspension, Miles had led Team USA to win the Rising Stars challenge and was named the MVP after having a 29-point game and collecting 11 rebounds. In 2023 Bridges was selected to his first All-NBA team after having a good record of 25.7 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game.

He also won the 2023 NBA Slam Dunk contest where he displayed some phenomenal dunking abilities. He had even dunked over someone standing on a ladder. It will be hard for Miles to bring his life back together on track as legal battles like these take a huge mental toll on a person, but we hope he bounces back.
