John Cena, one of the most beloved WWE superstars who has received recognition worldwide due to his wrestling career, made his debut in the Stamford-based company in 2002 and has been a 16-time world champion in the 20+ years of his career.
This year’s first premium live event is Royal Rumble on January 27 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. WWE fans are hoping to see ‘The Cenation Leader’ at Royal Rumble 2024. Although Cena never confirmed anything about the upcoming event, he shared a cryptic post on Instagram.
Will John Cena be at the Royal Rumble?
WWE is going all out for the Royal Rumble event on January 27 as many famous superstars are scheduled to appear for the pay-per-view event. Till now only 9 out of the 30 entrants have been officially announced as of 20 January 2024. WWE superstars like Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, Shinsuke Nakamura, Bobby Lashley, Drew McIntyre, Gunther, Chad Gable, Otis, and Akira Tozawa are the current inductees announced for the match.
John Cena last appeared on Crown Jewel 2023, where he faced off against Solo Sikoa in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Cena, unfortunately, was defeated by Sikoa after the Bloodline member delivered multiple Samoan Spikes to The Champ and won with a pinfall victory.
John Cena recently posted a cryptic photo on Instagram that startled fans, leading to questions about whether the two-time Royal Rumble winner will make a surprise entrance at the event. The picture John posted was of a t-shirt of the New World Order (nWo).
According to rumors, the 16-time world champion won’t return for the Royal Rumble this year. He had to go through multiple surgeries after his two-month period of wrestling in late 2023 ended. Although WWE never hinted at anything related to John’s appearance, fans are still hoping to see ‘The Champ’ one last time before he goes on a long hiatus again.

Royal Rumble is one of the most anticipated WWE events. Fans eagerly wait to see 30 wrestlers compete for the Road to WrestleMania opportunity. “Stone Cold” Steve Austin holds the record for most wins in the Royal Rumble event, which he won three times in his career.
Some WWE athletes who won the battle royal twice in their career are Hulk Hogan (1990, 1991), Shawn Michaels (1995, 1996), Triple H (2002, 2016), Batista (2005, 2014), John Cena (2008, 2013) and Randy Orton (2009, 2017).
John Cena won his first Royal Rumble in 2008, where he was the last entrant and he eliminated Triple H for getting the victory. ‘The Hustle Loyalty & Respect Soldier’ won his second Royal Rumble in 2013 at Footprint Center, Arena in Phoenix, Arizona, where he defeated Ryback to become the two-time battle royal winner.
Since ”The Rock’ returned to the RAW Day-1 event, fans are also hoping to see the 46-year-old athlete return to the ring after 2023’s Crown Jewel. Although John Cena’s name may not be on the match card for Royal Rumble 2024, fans are still expecting him to make a surprise entry in the Florida event.
