Lebron James and Kobe Bryant are two of the most decorated stars in NBA history. Both have been widely considered to be some of the greatest players to ever play the game and are regular contenders in the GOAT debate. The long list of team and individual accomplishments that both stars have often attracts a lot of comparisons between the two.
The drive and competitiveness between both athletes are world-renowned, and although they both were able to play at the same time, Kobe was more of a past-his-prime player when a young LeBron stepped foot into the NBA. This factor has always been a point of argument in deciding which star was better. Dwayne Wade recently recalled the incident where he called LeBron when Kobe won his fifth NBA ring.
LeBron’s potential to win another championship
LeBron James is 38 years old now, and it would be too far-fetched to think that a 38-year-old NBA player still has what it takes to win another championship. But this is no ordinary 38-year-old; it’s King James. LeBron has been proving season after season that age is just a number. Despite being the age where many players think about retirement or have already retired, LeBron has shown no signs of slowing down and is giving out an elite-level performance.
Sure, he is not able to withstand the same level of durability he had when he was young, but his skills and the tons of experience he has gained have forged him into an entirely different beast. LeBron James is still able to prove why he may be the greatest player of all time, and another championship might not just be a dream for him.
Dwayne Wade recalled an incident during the Skweek Podcast where he talked about how he called up LeBron when Kobe Bryant won his fifth NBA championship. LeBron and Wade were at the Miami Heat together that time and had only won one NBA championship. Wade asked Bron, “Now what are you gonna do?” This incident goes to show the level of competitiveness and drive LeBron had from a young age. He went on to win 3 more championship rings which put him just behind Kobe Bryant.
Who is superior between LeBron and Kobe?
The debate of who is superior between LeBron James and Kobe Bryant is a very heated one, with fans having various opinions of their own. But when it comes down to comparing the two stars on the basis of stats, LeBron James has a slight edge over Kobe Bryant. Although Kobe has a total of five NBA championships under his name, LeBron is not far behind with four championships.
When it comes to NBA finals, LeBron has led his team to 10 NBA finals, while Kobe has done the same seven times. Kobe was a more prolific scorer when compared to LeBron but King James is a more versatile player who can play in all positions and still deliver an elite level of performance in all those positions.
LeBron’s passing and rebounding skills were also better than Kobe’s, and his efficiency was much better as well. Overall, LeBron James has a slight advantage over Kobe, but this debate is highly subjective with a lot of factors involved, and different people will weigh over different factors, making Kobe a superior player for them or the same for LeBron.
