Will Nick Aldis continue as WWE SmackDown GM following his injury?

Nick Aldis was introduced as the SmackDown GM by WWE’s chief content officer and head of creative, Triple H, on October 13, 2023. Since then, Aldis has been creating match cards for the blue brand, and recently, he even announced that Logan Paul would face Randy Orton and Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 40 in April.

A short while ago, GM Nick Aldis shared on his official Twitter account that he suffered a ruptured bicep tendon and had to undergo surgery for it. This has led WWE fans to wonder if Nick will continue as WWE SmackDown GM following his injury.

Nick Aldis provides an update on his WWE SD future

Nick Aldis appeared on last week’s Monday Night RAW alongside Adam Pearce, who is the General Manager of the red brand, and announced a 6-pack challenge for WrestleMania 40 for the Undisputed Tag Team Championship under the Judgement Day. After that segment, PW Insider reported that the blue brand manager suffered from an injury and will get surgery to heal his arm.

Right after that, Aldis, whom Roman Reigns dislikes, posted a picture of himself and explained that he got injured and had to undergo surgery to recover. The post read, “Yes, I just got out of surgery for a ruptured bicep tendon, and yes, the sheets had it within minutes. God bless ’em. Must be a slow news day…anyway it was a freak accident, I’m on the mend, and I will continue to fulfill my obligations.”

Some WWE fans have commented that Aldis will likely take a break from his job due to his injury and others even shared that he might permanently quit the job, as it is physically quite taxing and this may slow his work progress. Although Nick Aldis said that he would fulfill his obligation, meaning he would continue his job, some fans are still skeptical about his statement.

What is WWE’s plan for Nick Aldis’ feud with Adam Pearce?

Adam Pearce has been the WWE official for the both red and blue brands but after Nick Aldis joined, Pearce got his authority deducted by half, becoming RAW General Manager and this has now evolved into a rivalry. There have been several rivalries between both WWE brands throughout the years, and multiple SmackDown vs RAW has been executed in the last decade.

During an interview, Adam Pearce shared his true feelings on handling both brands. He said, “Yeah, I’ve been pretty busy for the last four years preparing for Raw and Smackdown, and to be honest with you, what went through my head was trying to figure out what I’m going to do with the extra time. I’m not used to having time to breathe, think, or do anything else. And now I have half a week to devote to something other than SmackDown, which I graciously hand over to my compatriot Nick Aldis.”

Quite recently it was reported that WWE is planning a potential SmackDown vs RAW down the line. According to Aaron Varble of SEScoops, “There are still no current plans for Nick Aldis vs Adam Pearce. Yes, a match with two former NWA World Champions who are now GMs could be a f*cking banger, especially with Triple H in control. Maybe down the line… Oh, that ‘maybe down the line’ is what I was told. No current plan though.”
