WWE fans anticipate Randy Orton’s comeback amidst recent fitness progress

WWE fans have been eagerly waiting for the return of Randy Orton for a long time now. He has been sidelined due to an injury for a long period of time. “The Viper” last competed on Friday Night SmackDown back in May 2022.

There were a lot of rumors online regarding his comeback, with many believing that the superstar was ready for a comeback by SummerSlam 2023. Unfortunately, that didn’t come to fruition as there was no presence of him at that event. However, as per some latest reports, Orton is set for a comeback very soon.

Randy Orton nearing WWE return after lengthy absence

Former WWE Champion Randy Orton aka The Apex Predator has been out of the ring since 2022 due to a severe back injury. While some reports have suggested that doctors have told him to stay away from in-ring activities, Randy Orton may still return to the WWE soon, as he has been getting back into good condition. It is possible that the former World Champion could return and begin a feud with old in-ring enemy Drew McIntyre.

Randy Orton was previously paired with Matt Riddle, and the two were known as RK-Bro, and even captured the Tag Team Championships together. However, after being stuck in a sticky situation since Orton was out of the ring business due to his injury, Riddle has found some momentum lately since he teamed up with Drew McIntyre.

Interstingly, McIntyre and Randy Orton have never seen eye-to-eye. Both superstars had a massive feud back in 2020, and Randy Orton was the one to dethrone McIntyre as the WWE Champion before losing the title to The Scottish Warrior. It is possible that The Viper finally returns to WWE in order to break the new bond between his friend Matt Riddle and his old Drew McIntyre.

Orton could be upset about being replaced by Matt Riddle and take out his frustrations on Drew McIntyre aka The Scottish Warrior, leading to a bitter rivalry between the two megastars.

What did Randy Orton get injured at?

WWE superstar Randy Orton has achieved everything there is to achieve in WWE. During his over 20-year legendary WWE career he has won several titles and is all set to become a Hall of Famer in the future. However, a career-wrecking back injury last year interrupted the momentum he had even in his 40s.

In May 2022, Randy Orton, along with his RK-Bro partner Matt Riddle defended their Raw tag team titles against The Uso brothers in a title unification match. After having a good tag team run, Randy and Matt failed to retain their tag titles on an episode of SmackDown.

Furthermore, after losing the titles, they also received a brutal beatdown at the hands of Roman Reigns aka The Tribal Chief, and his faction The Bloodline. During that beatdown, Orton unfortunately suffered a back injury. Following the injury, The Viper underwent multiple back surgeries and had a long road to recovery. As of now, Randy is still out of action on doctors’ advice.
