WWE fans applaud Trick Williams as NXT star protects Malik Blade from scary injury: “Saved that man’s life”

Trick Williams, the former NXT North American Champion, is a standout performer on the NXT roster. Williams won the 2023 Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge at the NXT Deadline and is waiting for his opportunity to reclaim the NXT North American Champion, which he lost to Dominik Mysterio.

After today’s NXT episode, WWE fans have raised their support for Trick Williams after he potentially saved Malik Blade from a major injury during a tag team match.

Fans react to Trick Williams saving Malik Blade

The competition for the Men’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic continued on today’s episode of NXT, a tournament to determine the best tag team in NXT. In the third match of the tournament, Malik Blade and Edris Enofé competed against Trick Williams and the former NXT Champion, Carmelo Hayes. Hayes presence for the match was not confirmed till the end of the match due to an injury he faced on the last episode of SmackDown during a match against Austin Theory.

In the later part of the match, Malik Blade had an upper hand against Williams after making a tag from Enofé. Blade tried to take out Williams by diving over the top rope, but he landed on the wrong spot. Williams, who was outside the ring, reacted quickly and saved Blade from a serious injury by catching him in mid air.

This was unexpected from Williams, as he is often shown as a heel and arrogant wrestler. Williams clearly helped Blade land on his feet, saving him from a head injury. After this, the WWE fans started praising and appreciating Williams for his actions. Fans commented, “Trick saved that man’s life”. Williams was also praised by Triple H for his performance and he picked Williams as a member for DX group.

Trick Williams vs Ilja Dragunov NXT title match confirmed

On today’s NXT show, Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes won the first round of the Men’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic against Malik Blade and Edris Enofé. The rivalry between Hayes and Williams was one of the most intense in NXT, but in today’s match, both men worked as a team and qualified for the next round.

After the match, Williams and Hayes were celebrating in the backstage area and were interrupted by the NXT Champion, Ilja Dragunov. Dragunov won the title from Hayes on September 20, 2023, at No Mercy Pay per view. 

On today’s backstage, Dragunov confirmed that he will defend his title against Williams at the NXT Vengeance Day. The event will be held on February 4, 2024, at the F&M Bank Arena in Clarksville, Tennessee.

Previously, Dragunov was announced to defend his title against Williams at NXT New Year’s Evil. But before the match, Dragunov suffered an injury during a match against Ridge Holland. Due to this, WWE announced that he was not clear to compete in the ring.

The finals of the Men’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic are also set to happen on NXT Vengeance Day. The event has increased expectations as Williams is set to compete in two big matches of NXT on the same day.
