Former WWE star and Hall of Famer Sting is one of the most legendary performers in the world of professional wrestling. To this day, Sting continues to wrestle in AEW while being in his sixties. In an interview with Lilian Garcia, The Icon once admitted his infidelity to his ex-wife during the peak of his career.
The wrestling legend, prior to his career in WWE, made a name for himself in WCW and TNA Impact with a series of achievements. After a short run in WWE, the 64-year-old wrestling icon continues to have an illustrious career in AEW.
WWE HOF Sting once slept with ex-wife’s friend
Appearing on Chasing Glory with Lilian Garcia few years ago, The Icon opened up about his personal life. Sting recollected the time in his life when he had to confess to his now ex-wife about his extra-marital affair with her friend, and how this led him to find and accept God.
“I confessed everything to my ex-wife. I was honest and truthful. It was one of the worst moments of my life watching her life blood just come out of her almost, it was just horrendous. God at that point, I said, “Okay, I have given God lip service,” I literally said this prayer. And I had, nothing was real to me. finally August of 1998 when I realized there’s no amount of money, no amount of power, no drug, no woman, no man, no doctor, nothing, nothing is going to fix this horrendous deep dark despair and I have messed lives up everywhere”, said Sting.
Sting had to deliver this heartbreaking confession to his then-wife back in 1998 when he was one of the top stars in WCW. Following his revelation, The Icon admitted that his lifestyle changed overnight due to his spiritual awakening.
“I need some supernatural and I said, “God, I surrender my life to you.” So that’s what happened to me in August of 1998 when I was at the very peak of my career. Muscle relaxers, pain relievers, alcohol, women, a lifestyle, even language that comes out of my mouth, everything changed radically overnight.”
As of now, Sting is one of the most respected figures in the world of professional wrestling. He last wrestled at All In last month, which was one of AEW’s biggest events.
When was the last time Sting was on WWE?
After having successful careers in WCW and TNA, Sting finally made his debut in WWE at Survivor Series 2014, where he helped Team Cena win the match. Following his debut, he had his first match at WrestleMania 31 the following year against Triple H, where The Icon lost to The Game.
Sting’s last match in WWE was at Night of Champions in September 2015, where he faced Seth Rollins in a losing effort for the World Heavyweight Championship, marking his only championship match in the Stamford-based promotion. He was later inducted into WWE’s Hall of Fame on April 2, 2016, where he announced his retirement.
However, The Icon came out of retirement in 2020 when he joined AEW and is still currently competing. Sting is celebrated as one of the greatest wrestlers in the world of professional wrestling, and his fans hope to see him in the best health in the coming years as he continues to wrestle at the age of 64.
