The 2024 WWE Draft is just on the horizon with the first round of the draft taking place on SmackDown this Saturday. While the post-WrestleMania hangover is still there with new storylines scratching the surface, WWE would like to branch off the stories once the Draft concludes.
With that in mind, WWE Hall of Famer, Kevin Nash chose his first draft pick who he believes should be the face of WWE SmackDown moving forward. Talking on his “Kliq THIS” podcast, Diesel said, “I would imagine that Punk would be the first draft choice as a baby face on SmackDown.” (After 1:07:10)
Backing his theory he explained that Cody Rhodes will be going to WWE RAW because of the Netflix deal which will be effective from January 2025. Punk will possibly be back by that time so that he can fill in as the face of SmackDown when Cody moves to the red brand.
With CM Punk sidelined with an injury and his ongoing heat with Drew McIntyre, Kevin Nash’s prediction might not come true but that is what WWE Draft is all about, having the fantasy scenarios, to discuss the What IFs. However, Nash did not stop his fantasy train there as he predicted a future match down the line between Cody Rhodes and CM Punk.

During the same Podcast, Nash also floated the idea of having a blockbuster feud between CM Punk and Cody Rhodes. “Your money is f**cking Punk vs Cody,” stated the former IC Champion, emphasizing the magnitude of the match. If Punk gets drafted to SmackDown, he will have that chance to face Cody for the title he was supposed to challenge for had he won the Royal Rumble.
The seeds of the Cody Rhodes vs CM Punk feud were already planted when Rhodes eliminated Punk at Royal Rumble earlier this year, taking away Punk’s chance to challenge for a title. While it made little difference as Punk got injured during the match and he has been sidelined since then.
While CM Punk will understandably face still Drew McIntyre given their heated rivalry, Kevin Nash knows just the guy to make the dream match of CM Punk vs Cody Rhodes happen.
