WWE RAW: Cody Rhodes will face Shinsuke Nakamura in bull rope match after surprising backstage attack

Cody Rhodes and his long-time adversary, Shinsuke Nakamura, have a history of hostility towards each other. Recently, Rhodes faced Nakamura in a Street Fight at a live event in Knoxville, TN. Although Rhodes won the match, he was viciously attacked by Nakamura backstage.

The two wrestlers have had a storied rivalry for the past year and have faced each other several times over the last two months, with Rhodes coming out on top in their most recent match on Raw. They are scheduled to face each other again in the future.

Cody Rhodes will face Shinsuke Nakamura in bull rope match

On the latest episode of WWE SmackDown, Cody Rhodes announced that he would not be facing Roman Reigns at WrestleMania. However, he will be facing his old rival, Shinsuke Nakamura, on this week’s WWE Raw.

During a live event over the weekend, Nakamura attacked Rhodes by spraying mist into his eyes as he was heading backstage after their match. WWE Raw General Manager Adam Pearce announced that The American Nightmare will once again face off against the Japanese star. Rhodes requested a bull rope match for their upcoming bout.

“Ladies and gentlemen, Adam Pearce coming to you tonight from Chicago, where I’m between flights, to bring you this breaking news regarding tomorrow night’s ‘Raw’ from St. Louis. By now, I’m sure you’ve seen the footage that took place last night in Knoxville between Cody Rhodes and Shinsuke Nakamura. As a result of the footage and in speaking to both parties, I’m sanctioning a one-on-one contest tomorrow night live on ‘Raw,’ Cody Rhodes vs. Shinsuke Nakamura. But, per Cody’s request, this is going to be a bull rope match,” said Adam Pearce.

WWE reports Shinsuke Nakamura attacked Cody Rhodes backstage

This week hasn’t been in favor of Cody Rhodes as he potentially lost his spotlight at WrestleMania to a part-time star attraction and was also subjected to a sneak attack at a recent WWE live event. The event took place in Knoxville over the weekend, where Rhodes was a part of the main event.

The American Nightmare fought against his former arch-nemesis, Shinsuke Nakamura, in a street fight and emerged victorious. In recent WWE footage, Nakamura was seen launching a sneak attack on Cody Rhodes. As Cody was walking towards the backstage area, Shinsuke waited for him and sprayed red mist on his face as soon as he saw him.

Shinsuke was about to cause more harm before an official intervened to stop him. It seems like Nakamura was not going to let the night end without his memory of defeat. Now, WWE has officially booked a bull rope match for them in the upcoming episode of Monday Night Raw.

It seems that WWE has abandoned Cody Rhodes’ plan to fight against Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 40, and instead, they are considering adding The Rock to the mix. The recent attack on Cody could be a way to distract the audience from their desire to see The American Nightmare as the main event of WrestleMania against The Tribal Chief and bring their story to a conclusion.
