If we judge the greatest stable in pro wrestling of the past decade based on their ability to create future world champions, then a few groups come to mind. For instance, The Shield produced all of its members, who went on to become future world champions.
However, in terms of numbers, they are surpassed by one of the most overlooked groups in wrestling history- Adam Rose’s Rosebuds. The Rosebuds were a group of anonymous characters who accompanied party man Adam Rose to the ring. Neither the group nor Adam Rose managed to establish themselves on the main roster. Nevertheless, it does not imply that the members of the Rosebuds team did not achieve success later in WWE.
Top WWE names who were part of the Rosebuds
Professional wrestling stables are often judged by their ability to create new stars who can remain relevant even after the group is dissolved. The Rosebuds stable is an example of this. Sami Callihan is a well-known independent wrestling scene legend who gained his reputation through his brutal matches in Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW) from 2008-13. He was part of other wrestling promotions such as ROH, Evolve, and Dragon Gate USA. In 2013, he signed a WWE NXT contract and performed under the name, Solomon Crowe.
Despite his death-defying wrestling style, he only had dark matches in NXT, and his first scheduled television match was never aired. He made history by becoming the first Rosebud to be shown on TV and by appearing as the official DJ for wrestler Adam Rose. However, his stint with the company was short-lived, as he left in 2015 due to a broken tibia.
Tessa Blanchard, who also won the IMPACT World Title like Callihan, was also a part of Adam Rose’s Rosebuds group. She made her first appearance on WWE Monday Night Raw in 2014 as a Rosebud alongside Adam Rose and others and later had a short stint in NXT in 2016. During her time there, she competed in the Mae Young Classic and faced off against wrestlers such as Alexa Bliss and Nia Jax.
After leaving WWE, Blanchard achieved success in various promotions across the world, including Japan, Mexico, Canada, and the United States. She won the IMPACT Women’s Title during her run at IMPACT Wrestling from 2018-2020 and competed against Sami Callihan in the first intergender match to ever headline a pro-wrestling pay-per-view, Slammiversary 17.
Alexa Bliss is also one of the most successful members of Adam Rose’s Rosebuds group. She has achieved a lot in her WWE career, including being a three-time RAW Women’s Champion, a two-time SmackDown Women’s Champion, a two-time Women’s Tag Team Champion, a Money in the Bank winner, a Women’s Triple Crown Champion, and the host of Wrestlemania 35.
Alexa has come a long way from her days as Adam Rose’s Rosebud. Before she became known as Little Miss Bliss, she was part of Triple H’s entourage at Wrestlemania and had a cheesy fairy gimmick during her NXT career. However, things changed for her in 2016 when she made her main roster debut. Alexa quickly became one of the most popular female wrestlers on SmackDown with her arrogant heel persona. Unfortunately, Alexa’s in-ring career suffered a temporary setback due to concussion-related issues, but she is expected to win more titles in the future.
The most accomplished male superstar from Adam Rose’s group in WWE is the former WWE Universal Champion, Braun Strowman. While Adam Rose did not win any title in WWE, Strowman has won the Universal title, Intercontinental title, Tag team title, Money in the Bank briefcase, the Greatest Royal Rumble, and the Andre the Giant Memorial battle royal.
Braun Strowman joined WWE in 2013 after a career in Strongman competitions. It took the company two years to come up with a gimmick for him. Strowman made his WWE debut in 2014 as a member of the Wyatt family. He later had main event storylines with top wrestlers like Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Brock Lesnar, and Goldberg. Strowman won his first Universal title at Wrestlemania 36 by defeating Goldberg.
Becky Lynch is a highly regarded female wrestler in WWE, even though she has won fewer titles than some of her peers, such as Alexa Bliss, Charlotte Flair, and Sasha Banks. Fans consider her to be the greatest female wrestler in WWE today. Even during her maternity leave, her merchandise sales continue to soar. She is considered to be one of the most important superstars on the WWE roster, regardless of gender, and is one of the highest-paid wrestlers in the industry.
As she was growing up and wrestling in Ireland, reaching the heights of success seemed unattainable for Lynch. She was trained by Finn Balor, but after suffering a head injury in 2006, she quit wrestling and worked as an air hostess. However, six years later, she decided to return to the ring. In 2013, she signed a WWE developmental deal and was determined to succeed. She even requested to work as part of Adam Rose’s Rosebud group, as mentioned in her interview with Lilian Garcia.
During her early NXT days, Lynch was given an Irish dancer gimmick. However, she became one of the most prominent members of the Women’s Revolution and eventually became the SmackDown Women’s Champion as a babyface. Her feud with Charlotte Flair resulted in “Stone Cold” Steve Austin-like responses from the crowd, which eventually led to Lynch winning the Royal Rumble. This historic win paved the way for her to win both the RAW and SmackDown Women’s titles at WrestleMania 35’s main event.
WWE Rosebuds: honorable mentions
Several WWE superstars were once part of the Rosebuds and have since made a name for themselves in the wrestling industry. Scarlett Bordeaux is a popular wrestler who gained fame in IMPACT Wrestling before joining WWE. Although she is now featured on SmackDown, not many fans know that she was part of the Rosebuds in her early days in WWE.
Similarly, Carmella, a two-time Ms. Money in the Bank and former Women’s Champion started her WWE career as a dancing party girl in the Rosebuds. Despite being underestimated at the time, she has since competed on the biggest stages in WWE and has won several titles.
Ruby Riott, alias Ruby Soho, was also a part of the Rosebuds before moving on to singles action in WWE and eventually signing with All Elite Wrestling. Another former Rosebud was Elias, who made a name for himself with his live concerts in the ring and multiple reigns as 24/7 champion before being released by WWE in mid-2023.
