WWE Royal Rumble 2024: Kevin Owens is set to face Logan Paul for the United States Championship

Logan Paul has held the United States Champion title for two months. However, it was recently announced on the latest episode of Friday Night SmackDown that Kevin Owens would be his first challenger at WWE Royal Rumble 2024.

Owens fought against former LWO member Santos Escobar in the finals of the United States Championship number one contender tournament. Despite Escobar constantly targeting Owens’ arm injury, Owens held his ground. Meanwhile, Logan Paul, the current United States champion, provided commentary.

Kevin Owens to face Logan Paul for the US title at the 2024 Royal Rumble

In the latest SmackDown, WWE had a special episode named ‘New Year’s Revolution’, which showcased a lot of exciting plans for the upcoming Royal Rumble 2024 event and got the fans hyped up by updating a match for the card.

On the first episode of this year’s SmackDown, a high-octane match featured Kevin Owens and Santos Escobar in a fierce competition to become the number one contender for the United States Championship title at the Royal Rumble 2024.

The Maverick was present at ringside during the match between Santos Escobar and Kevin Owens. Although Paul talked a lot of trash throughout the match and ridiculed both wrestlers, Kevin Owens emerged victorious in the end, confirming his place against Logan Paul at Royal Rumble 2024.

When Owens defeated Escobar, Logan Paul couldn’t help but cut a promo that emphasized Owen’s Canadian nationality and also took a jab at the Vancouver Canucks, whose home arena he was in.

“You all thought a Canadian—a Canadian?—could have the United States championship? Kevin, brother, you beating me for the United States title is like the Canucks winning a Stanley Cup; it’s never going to happen!” said Logan Paul.

Kevin Owens defeats Santos Escobar to win US Title Tournament

Tonight’s SmackDown began with an exciting match between Kevin Owens and Santos Escobar. Owens emerged victorious, securing his spot as the number-one contender for the WWE United States Championship. Owens will now face Paul in a title match at the WWE Royal Rumble in 2024.

During the match, Joaquin Wilde and Cruz Del Toro, former associates of Escobar from LWO, intercepted his latest cronies, Angel Garza and Humberto, before the match started. Meanwhile, Escobar was distracted, and Owens took advantage of the situation by performing a cannonball and a splash off the top rope, which pleased Paul.

Throughout the match, Escobar focused on the broken hand of his opponent and even stepped on his fingers outside the ring. However, Owens made his comeback with a DDT. After planting Escobar with the DDT, Owens followed up with a suplex from the top rope and a cannonball off the apron.

This thrilled the fans present in the arena, who were fellow Canadians of Owens. However, Santos countered by getting his knees up when Owens went up top. Owens recovered and hit a Pop-Up Powerbomb, followed by a Stunner to secure his place in the Royal Rumble 2024.
