Kevin Owens has been absent from WWE Television for some time, which gave birth to some speculations about his future. However, his absence was actually due to a real-life injury. On this week’s edition of Monday Night RAW, The Prizefighter of WWE made a spectacular return to save his best friend and one half of the Tag Team Champs, Sami Zayn.
Kevin Owens is currently one-half of the Tag Team Champions alongside his best friend Sami Zayn. They won the titles from The Usos at WrestleMania 39 this year and have been successfully defending it so far. Although for the majority of their tag team run, they have mostly feuded with The Judgement Day and Imperium. WWE’s shows took place in Canada this week, which is also the hometown of both Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens.
Kevin Owens returns to WWE
The Prizefighter has been absent from WWE Programming since July. He was out of action due to a legitimate injury and was written off WWE TV via a Judgement Day attack. It was also previously reported that Owens has been dealing with a fractured rib for a while and needed to rest before returning to Monday Night RAW.

Owens had actually made his return to WWE last week in a dark match following SmackDown, where he teamed up with Sami Zayn to take on Imperium. This week on Monday Night RAW, Kevin Owens made his official return as he came to Sami Zayn’s aid and fended off The Judgement Day members. This resulted in a tag team match between the two men and two members of The Judgement Day later in the night.
Kevin Owens saves Sami Zyan from The Judgment Day
When Sami Zayn came out in front of his hometown crowd in Quebec, Canada, he received a huge pop. The Quebec crowd accepted and cheered for their hometown hero. Zayn’s homecoming soon came to a halt when The Judgement Day interrupted. They surrounded the ring, looking to attack the Tag champ, when Zayn called out Kevin Owens to the rescue. The returning Owens got a huge pop from his home crowd as well. He stormed down the ring and stomped on Dominik Mysterio, threw Finn Balor into the barricade and delivered a stunner to Damian Priest. He then went on to challenge any two members of the Judgement Day for a tag team match on RAW that night.
In the main event of the show, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn’s match with The Judgement Day ended in a disqualification win for the heelish group after Owens hit Balor with the MITB briefcase. However, the tag champs soon fell prey to the numbers game until Cody Rhodes came out to help them fend off The Judgement Day. It was then turned into a six man tag team match between Owens, Zayn and Rhodes and The Judgement Day. The American Nightmare helped them pick up the win after hitting Mysterio with the Cody Cutter, who then fell to the Helluva Kick and the Stunner.
The Quebec crowd was overjoyed to see their hometown heroes reunite once again and pick up a win. We hope that Owens would not get injured again anytime soon, although he seemed to avoid raising his right hand and pulled something in his abdomen. Hopefully, it won’t have an serious implications for The Prizefighter.
