The Viper of WWE, Randy Orton, was a pretty controversial figure in the company back in the 2010-13 Era. He has given fans a lot of memorable moments, which some revisit to this day. From delivering an RKO to Mick Foley on a pile of thumbtacks to humiliating Stephanie McMahon right in front of her husband, Triple H, he has done it all. In a recent tweet, fans revisited the time when Orton accidentally knocked out Stephanie McMahon in a chaotic segment.
The incident happened back in 2013, on the 9th December edition of Monday Night RAW, during the Championship Ascension Ceremony. Then-World Heavyweight Champion John Cena came face to face with then-WWE-Champion Randy Orton. The two champions were scheduled to face each other at the upcoming Tables, Ladders, and Chairs event, which would see the unification of the two titles. It’s also worth noting that Cena was the last World Heavyweight Champion, as the title was retired after the event.
Randy Orton accidently knocked out Triple H’s wife Stephanie McMahon
As Randy Orton and John Cena came out to the ring to face off one last time before their clash at TLC 2013, things quickly turned chaotic as almost the whole locker room came out. Orton and Cena were joined in the ring by former champions, such as Shawn Michaels, Christian, Booker T, and Bret Hart, who delivered their final words before TLC. Other superstars like Kane, Mark Henry, Dolph Ziggler, Daniel Bryan, and CM Punk were also present.
Tension quickly rose between the superstars as they eventually came to blows. Shawn Michaels nailed CM Punk with a superkick and Daniel Bryan took out Michaels with the running knee.

As Orton sneaked behind Bryan to hit him with an RKO, Bryan countered and shoved The Viper into Stephanie McMahon, who was immediately laid out by the push. Triple H ran to check on his wife, who was still conscious. In a fit of rage, The Game took out Orton with a ring-shattering Pedigree as a punishment. John Cena and Kane then proceeded to help Stephanie up, and the four of them stood over Orton, who was still on the ground.
This segment generated a huge pop and a lot of buzz over the weeks. Many believed that this particular part of the segment wasn’t scripted, and was a genuine reaction from all the superstars involved. It was a memorable moment, which is often brought up to this day.
