Former WWE wrestler Nikki Bella has been enjoying a happily married life with her husband, Artem Chigvintsev. The couple got married last year and have been together for about 4 years. However, in a recent podcast, the Bella twin talked about how the WWE Industry keeps comparing her husband to her ex-boyfriend John Cena.
Nikki Bella was an active wrestler from 2007-22. Her contract with WWE expired in 2023, after which she retired from wrestling. During her later years in WWE, she only made a few sporadic appearances. Bella also started dating the 16-time World Champion, John Cena around 2012. After their mixed tag team match at WrestleMania 33, Cena proposed to Bella in the center of the ring, to which she said yes. Thus the couple got engaged. However, they called off their wedding in 2018 due to personal reasons.

Nikki Bella started dating her “Dancing with the Stars” partner Artem Chigvintsev in 2019. The two eventually got engaged in 2020. A few days later, she announced her news of pregnancy. She gave birth to their first child that year. The couple went on to get married in August 2022. Even though both John Cena and Nikki Bella seem to have moved on from each other, it looks like the Wrestling Industry hasn’t. In the most recent episode of The Nikki and Brie show, she revealed that WWE fans still compare her husband Artem to John Cena. Apparently, this has been going on for years, but the dancer has been ignoring the comments the whole time.
Bella said, “The one thing that has affected me the most recently is just all the hate Artem gets because they compare him [to Cena]. They’ll say things to him, and Artem will ignore it. Every now and then, he’ll make a comment to me and he’s like, ‘Gosh, your industry can be so brutal. The dancing industry is not like that”.

John Cena and Nikki Bella started dating back in 2012 after Cena separated from his now ex-wife. The couple was involved in a lot of storylines in WWE as well, where they once teamed up with Brie Bella and her husband Daniel Bryan. Cena and Bella went on to become one of the most famous and loved couples in WWE history. They even got engaged in 2017, when Cena proposed to Bella in the middle of the ring at WrestleMania 33, after their match with The Miz and Maryse.
However, things didn’t end well for the couple as they broke off their engagement and parted ways in 2018. People who have been closely following them on Total Divas and Total Bellas are aware that the main reason behind their split was the topic of starting their own family. Apparently, John Cena was not keen on the idea of wanting kids. According to Nikki Bella, towards the end of their relationship, Cena was willing to have kids. However, she knew that it wasn’t what he truly wanted. This led to their public breakup in 2018.
Since their breakup, Cena and Bella have moved on with their life and are on good terms now. Bella is happily married to her husband, Artem Chigvintsev, whereas Cena is also married to his wife, Shay Shariatzadeh for about two and a half years now.
