Years after NFL retirement, Patriots legend Rob Gronkowski reveals hilarious insights into his bond with Tom Brady: “He’s kinda like daddy too”

Many NFL fans are aware of the awesome bonding between Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski as they were friends in crime for more than 10 years. The duo enjoyed their stints with the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers almost simultaneously.

Even though they have both since left the NFL, the dynamic duo has frequently appeared in the media for off-field issues, and occasionally their long-lasting relationship has taken center stage.

Gronkowski reveals hilarious details about his relationship with Brady

In a recent appearance on the podcast “The Season with Peter Schrager,” retired NFL player Rob Gronkowski chatted with host Peter Schrager about his career, daily routine, as well as his emotions toward his former best friend Tom Brady. The four-time Super Bowl champion talked openly about his fruitless move to the Detroit Lions in the 2018 offseason during the appearance.

The former great New England Patriots tight end repeatedly referred to Tom Brady as his big brother, buddy, and mentor when Peter brought up the subject of Brady, asking to know how he would describe his bonding with TB12.

The seven-time Super Bowl winner was alongside Rob for a long time, and the strength of their bond is showcased by California Cool’s words, “Nobody loves Gronk more than me other than probably his mom and dad and brothers”.

Like Brady, Gronk himself understood the contribution of Tom, which is probably why in the podcast the former tight end labeled TB12 as his daddy who instructed him on what the next move should be,

“Big brother. Friend. Mentor. He’s kinda like Daddy too. ‘Daddy, what do we do here on this play?’ He’s all of those and more.”

When did Rob Gronkowski and Tom Brady last play together?

The four-time All-Pro player was chosen by the Patriots in 2010 and together he and Brady led the team to three Super Bowl victories and nearly a decade of success.

Rob announced his retirement from the Patriots in 2019 after nine seasons, while Brady left the team a little over a year later, in 2020. But subsequently, they stunned the NFL community by returning for a nearly two-year stint in Tampa Bay.

The NFL world last saw the pair’s dominance on the field in 2022 when the 33-year-old finally waved the league farewell in June by saying, “I’m done, man,” but it took nearly a year before the 45-year-old finally retired on February 1 of 2023. Before then, they shared four Lombardi trophies, one with the Buccaneers and three with the Patriots.
