Regarded as one of the greatest tight ends of all time, the name Rob Gronkowski made it to the headlines many times for his high-level aerial combination with Tom Brady.
Following Gronkowski’s selection by the New England Patriots in 2010, the pair began their campaign together and have been friends ever since. With the same franchise, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, they also ended their NFL careers. Their bond seems to have remained unaffected despite the fact that they now lead completely different lives.
Gronkowski discusses remarkable 105 touchdowns with Tom Brady
Brady and Gronk spent nine seasons together in New England. Although it was believed that both players would end their NFL careers with the Patriots at the time, they shocked the football world by teaming up with the Buccaneers for a few seasons.
Even though they are no longer active players, their dominance on the pitch is still fondly remembered by many fans. The 34-year-old TE said he wanted to continue with Tom Terrific because he believed that they could turn any impossibility into a possibility in a recent interview with Kay Adams.
The five-time Pro Bowler discussed his partnership with Brady and their 105 touchdowns during the conversation. While acknowledging that he couldn’t have achieved his greatest accolades without his friend, he also regarded the touchdown as his best stat.
“It is pretty crazy whenever I see that. The amount of touchdown receptions I had from Tom. It’s actually the most mind-blowing stat of mine. That just shows how appreciative I was to be with Tom throughout my whole career. That’s why I wanted to stick with him throughout my whole career.”
The former NFL player acknowledged that such a combination is not the result of their work over a short period of time. Rather, it is the product of their labor over many years.
“We built such a great connection and it just doesn’t happen overnight. It was a connection built through many years. That’s why it was so great and I just loved playing with him as well. He didn’t care about stats. It was at the end of the list. It was more important to win and do what’s best for the team.”
How many Super Bowls has Gronk won with Brady?
Brady participated in 10 Super Bowls throughout the course of his career and won seven of them, while Gronk participated in five Super Bowls and won three of them.
The quarterback and tight end duo went on to win four Lombardi Trophies over the course of their ten-year tenure, three of them with the New England Patriots and one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Prior to departing the NFL, the duo had played a whopping 141 games together.
When they initially started playing, they weren’t completely on the same “wavelength,” but they quickly became the model of on and off-field friendship for many future athletes to come.
