FC Barcelona is a club with a very rich history. The club’s best stint came under Pep Guardiola, who led the team to a streak of trophy-winning campaigns, including back-to-back UEFA Champions League trophies in 2010 and 2011. However, recent times have not been so great for the Catalan club.
Since that treble-winning 2014-15 campaign under Luis Enrique, Barcelona has been on a bumpy ride, changing coaches and spending huge amounts of money on big-name players that would end up flopping. Ousmane Dembele is one such player, who could well be on his way out from the club after being a huge disappointment.
Barca legend slams Dembele for disrespectful stint
It is generally believed that some football players don’t understand the history of the football clubs they play for, and Ousmane Dembele has been accused of being one of them. He allegedly does not understand Barcelona’s rich history, hence his disrespectful attitude toward the club and its fans. The fans have supported him throughout his time at the club despite spending most of that time on the treatment table.
Dembele was brought to Camp Nou from Borussia Dortmund back in 2017 for a staggering €105 million transfer fee, and the French winger has failed to live up to his price tag after sustaining prolonged injuries and having minuscule playtime in four-and-a-half years.
His imminent move to Paris Saint-Germain has drawn largely negative reactions from everyone associated with the club. Since yesterday, Hristo Stoickhov has gone on a rant in a recent post circulating on social media. “Four and a half years with Dembele, 20 games completed,” Stoickhov said, referring to the Frenchman’s lack of contribution to the club due to injuries.

“20 games in four and a half years, you would have been cleaning my boots in my era. 18 goals and 16 assists from a player that cost $140 million. If you don’t want to stay at Barcelona, at least don’t disrespect the badge. Laporta, open the doors, let him leave,” the Barcelona legend protested.
Dembele to PSG inevitable following $55 million offer from Parisian outfit
It’s only a matter of time before Ousmane Dembele completes his move to PSG. The French club sent a formal letter informing Barcelona of their intention to sign their star winger two days ago. Dembele was thought to be part of Xavi’s plans heading into the new signing, but things took a new turn as PSG consider Dembele as the perfect replacement for the outgoing Kylian Mbappe, whose relationship with the club has been strained.
Barcelona will use some of the money they receive from Dembele’s sale to fund a move for Joao Cancelo from Manchester City. He will be the second player Barcelona will be snapping up from City following the summer arrival of Ilkay Gundogan on a free transfer.
