Zach Sieler could not set a good tone with his NFL debut team Baltimore Ravens. After being waived by the Ravens, he left almost no stone unturned to arise as a vital member of the Miami Dolphins front seven as the team put their trust in the player.
The Dolphins once again demonstrated their loyalty to Zach by giving him the contract extension before teammate defensive lineman Christian Wilkins, who has been requesting a new deal from the team for a while.
Dolphins DL Zach Sieler reportedly signs three-year contract extension
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Dolphins extended Sieler’s contract by three years on Sunday. The contract comprises a guaranteed $20 million and has a maximum value of $38.65 million. At the conclusion of the 2023 season, the defensive lineman was slated to become a free agency.
The transaction has greatly increased his market value and allowed him to reunite with the squad for a further three seasons. With a career-high 70 tackles in his final season with the Dolphins, the former Ravens star tied for seventh place among all NFL defensive tackles, which paved the way for his lucrative deal.
However, the Dolphins are still maintaining silence regarding the trade discussion with Christian who is in the fifth year of his rookie deal. Since 2023 will also be his final season in Miami, he is reportedly seeking a contract to rank among the highest-paid defensive linemen in football.
Dolphins fans unhappy with team’s Zach Sieler contract spending
Following his record-setting final season, the Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel cited Sielers’ contract extension as the ideal option for the team and referred to him as an inspiration for other NFL players.
“Zach epitomizes such an important thing about the journey of an NFL player. You’re talking about it a guy that’s earned every cent he’s been paid.”
Yet, similar to Wilkins, the agreements failed to enthuse Dolphins supporters with many claiming that the agreement was expensive for the team and that they were astonished by the high price tag for a low-end starter.
“That’s a lot of money for a low end starter high-end back up DT. They missed on their draft, pick Raekwon Davis so bad now they have no choice but to pay this guy,” one fan wrote.

The 27-year-old inked his first contract with the organization in 2020, committing to a three-year, $7.6 million deal. However, his worth increased roughly five times after his second deal. Hence, the supporters also allowed the Miami club to recall their standing in the league while asserting the deal as an overpriced one.
Another fan expressed his dissatisfaction with the deal saying, “Lot of money for a last place team.”

“After seeing the Dolphins defense yesterday they made sure to get this done ASAP. Now do Christian Wilkins,” a comment read.
